Did anyone else find it strange that no one saw Alvin leaving Brownes Mountain? With Brownes Mountain being relatively secluded, I would have thought someone might have noticed if he left with someone or if any strangers were around his cabin in March 1951. Given the rumors circulating about a confrontation involving a married woman's husband, did anyone ever check if there were any tire tracks or disturbances near his cabin? I know it was a long time ago, but even the smallest detail or witness could have shed some light on his mysterious disappearance. Just seems odd that he was reportedly involved in something so dramatic, yet absolutely no physical trace or witness accounts have surfaced over the years. If anyone has any theories or more info, I'd love to hear it.
I've been digging into Alvin Matlock's case, and something caught my attention that I haven't seen much discussion about. Apparently, there was a report that someone found a partially destroyed letter in Alvin's abandoned cabin shortly after he went missing. The details of the letter have never been publicly disclosed, but it just makes me wonder... Was it something significant that could give us clues about what really happened? Maybe a farewell note, or something that might explain the rumors about the altercation with the married woman? It's frustrating to think that after all these years, something as crucial as that letter isn't available for more thorough public scrutiny. Has anyone here ever come across more info or heard anything from local historical resources about what was found in or around his cabin back then?
