Wow, I've been reading about Diane's disappearance, and this case really gives me the chills. Something that's been stuck in my mind is that mysterious visit to the dentist in California under Diane’s name in August 1961. It almost feels like someone was deliberately trying to leave a breadcrumb trail. What if it wasn't Diane but someone trying to make it look like she was still out there? Or, if it was her, why wouldn't she get in touch with her family afterward? There's something so eerie about that sighting — it's like a snapshot from a ghost story. Anyone else have thoughts on what this dentist visit could mean? Could it have been staged for some reason we'll never know?
Has anyone looked deeper into Bennie's brother's involvement in all of this? It's odd that he would threaten Diane's father and tell him to leave town. It almost feels like there's something they were trying to hide. Given that his brother was chief of police, maybe there was some influence there that ended up stifling the investigation. It makes you wonder about the dynamics at play. Did the local law enforcement ever look into the actions or potential influence of Bennie's family in the case? It seems like an angle worth exploring. Also curious if there's any chance that Bennie’s brother might have known more about Diane's fate and has since carried any of that information to law enforcement now that decades have passed.
I've been reading about Diane's case, and the whole situation with her father going to Truth or Consequences really grabbed my attention. Isn't it strange that Bennie's brother, who was the chief of police, allegedly threatened Diane's father and made him leave town? You'd think someone in law enforcement would want to help, not push family away. It makes me wonder about any reports or investigations that might have been filed at that time. Did anyone else investigate what happened to Diane after this, or did it all just fizzle out because of that encounter? It seems like a huge missed opportunity to uncover more details. Anyone here familiar with how police procedures were carried out back then or if Diane's father could have pursued this further once he returned home? Something about that whole encounter just doesn't sit right with me.
