I’ve been diving into the old case of Judith Ann Elwell and something that really puzzles me is the piece of braided rope found near her shoe. It seems such an oddly specific clue, yet it doesn’t seem to have led anywhere concrete. Was it ever sent for forensic analysis, even with the limited technology back then? It seems like such a tangible piece of evidence might have pointed to a specific type of rope or even a place where it might’ve been used or sold. I just find it odd that with such a clue, there wasn’t more emphasis on tracing its origins. Has anyone come across details about how thoroughly the rope was investigated or what's been done in later years as forensic methods advanced? It’s haunting to think how close or far we might be from answers.
