I recently stumbled upon something intriguing while going through archives about Ernest Carroll Fortner's disappearance. Does anyone know if he had any connections to the old mining communities around Apache Junction? I read somewhere that a lot of people back then would venture off to explore or work unofficially in those areas without telling anyone. Given the era and location, it's not hard to imagine Ernest could have gotten involved somehow, especially if he had an adventurous side or needed extra money. If anyone has info on this or knows if local mining records were ever checked, please share! It might be a stretch, but any lead could help shed light on this puzzling case.
