Harold Hiram Covey, 20, disappeared from Oscoda, Michigan in the winter of 1976. He was last seen on December 23 leaving Karen’s Cabins and getting into a dark blue Chevy truck. At the time he had no wallet or identification, and witnesses described him with long blonde hair, blue eyes, sometimes wearing a beard and sideburns, and a crooked little finger. On that day he wore jeans, a grey hooded sweatshirt, an Eisenhower jacket, and black platform shoes.
Covey was living with Elizabeth Goldstick, recently separated from her husband, David Goldstick. David, an Air Force servicemember, went to the cabin to pick up Elizabeth and their children for a squadron party and later said he returned for board games and saw Harold on the phone; that is the last known sighting. David has been questioned over the years and has denied wrongdoing. The Oscoda Township Police Department lists the case as open but investigators have had few leads and little physical evidence.
Does anyone in Oscoda from that era remember Harold, the dark blue Chevy truck, or other details from December 1976?
