I’ve been following the tragic case of Jesus Adame and the other young lives lost that weekend in Oakland. It’s just so devastating to think about how many futures were cut short. I was reading through some local news archives, and it struck me how densely populated yet small communities can feel in times like these. People talk about some of these areas in Oakland being tight-knit, where everyone knows each other in some way, which makes these losses even more personal and haunting for those left behind. It makes you wonder about the kind of support systems these communities have in place for grief and healing. Does anyone know if there were community vigils or initiatives by local organizations to support the victims' families and loved ones back then? Maintaining that sense of community solidarity in the face of such needless violence seems crucial, even if the scars are deep and lingering.
