I've been thinking about the investigative process in Tara Singh Hayer's case, and I can't get past why no substantial leads turned into charges. It seems unbelievable that with over 200 individuals interviewed, no concrete evidence surfaced to move forward. It’s distressing to imagine the frustration and heartbreak his family must feel, knowing the killer is still out there.
What puzzles me most is how determined the police seemed initially—labeling it as an assassination right off the bat—but then the case just seemed to lose momentum. Was it a lack of resources or something else? It’s concerning how an outspoken journalist like Hayer could be murdered, clearly for his work, and yet, decades later, we’re still left with more questions than answers. His bravery in continuing his work after the 1988 attempt on his life is incredibly humbling, and it makes it even more painful that justice remains out of reach.
Does anyone have insights on why the investigation went cold? Are there still ongoing efforts, or has it been shelved completely? It's a reminder of the immense challenges faced by those who risk everything for the truth, and how crucial it is to support their quest for justice.
