I keep coming back to the fact that Karen was last seen walking over the Elwha River bridge. Did anyone ever look into the bridge's structural safety or its surroundings back then? Was there construction or any weird issues going on around that time? I know it's a bit of a stretch, but if she was intoxicated and despondent, any small environmental factor could have played a role in what happened next. The freezing temps make it even more concerning—slippery surfaces, impaired judgment, etc. Has anyone local or familiar with the area in early 1991 weighed in on what it was like to walk that bridge under those conditions?
