I've been following the Forest Grove case, and something that's really stuck with me is the role animal cruelty played in this tragedy. It's beyond disturbing that two dogs and two cats lost their lives, and another poor cat had to be euthanized due to its injuries. Animal cruelty is often overlooked but can signal serious issues, and in this case, it seemed to be part of a larger pattern of violence. It just breaks my heart to think about how scared those animals must have been and how they were caught in this nightmare through no fault of their own. I hope this aspect of the tragedy serves as a wake-up call to take signs of animal abuse seriously in domestic violence situations. Thoughts are with Stella, her family, friends, and their furry companions who had to endure such agony.
