I was thinking about the people in Stuart Davis's life today, especially his family and friends who must still feel his loss so keenly all these years later. I can’t imagine the pain they must have gone through back in 1976, getting that phone call about his death. It's chilling to think about how a promising young man's life was ended just like that in his own apartment, a place that's supposed to be a safe haven. And what about the fear in the community back then? Knowing there was someone out there who could do something so horrifying must have been terrifying for the people living in Alexandria. The details about how Anderson had allegedly crossed so many state lines, leaving a path of devastation, just makes it all the more unreal. How did he manage to evade capture while committing so many crimes? It makes you think about the challenges faced by law enforcement at the time without the technology we rely on today. I hope with all my heart that Stuart’s loved ones have found some measure of peace, even though such a senseless act of violence will always leave its mark.
