I've been thinking a lot about the killer's behavior at the crime scene. It's such an unnerving aspect of the case that he took the time to cover Keith and Patrice's bodies with a comforter after the attack. This seems to show a level of detachment or perhaps some twisted form of remorse? I've read that some killers do this because they can't stand looking at their victims, almost as if covering them is an afterthought to whatever compulsion drove them in the first place. In any case, it's a chilling piece of the puzzle that must have haunted the investigators and the family. This act alone makes me wonder if it gave the killer a sense of closure or false normalcy, allowing him to continue on until he was finally brought to justice decades later. I just hope knowing that DeAngelo has been caught offers some measure of peace to the families affected, especially those like the Harringtons, who've had to live with this horrific reality for so many years. My heart goes out to them all.
