Does anyone else find the circumstances around Rodderius's death incredibly puzzling? It's deeply concerning to think about how quickly a situation can escalate to something so tragic. By all accounts, Rodderius was a kind and respectful young man, despite his cognitive challenges. The fact that he was reportedly complying and exiting the premises when he was shot just doesn't sit right with me.
I think the self-defense claims could be a pivotal part of this case, but wasn't Morton already leaving? If this is true, it's hard to argue that lethal force was necessary at that moment. I can't even begin to imagine the pain his family feels, knowing that he might have been trying to do the right thing when his life was abruptly ended.
There's been a lot of talk about what led up to this point—like why Rodderius was there in the first place and how well he knew the daughter. But irrespective of what brought him there, his death feels so unnecessary. Does anyone have more insights into how these self-defense claims usually pan out in situations like this? It's just a heartbreaking scenario all around.
