Has anyone else looked into Rory Gochanour's case? I stumbled onto his story while researching boating safety, and it got me thinking about the visibility issues in Lake Washington during that time of year. I've read that the lake's conditions can make underwater searches really difficult, especially with the limited technology back in 1993. Does anyone know if recent advancements in sonar or submersible tech have been used to re-examine cases like this? It’s wild how some areas of the lake are over 200 feet deep and pretty murky—they didn't exactly have the best tools back then to get a good look down there. Maybe there's hope for future searches with better tech? Would love to hear your thoughts.
I was reading through some old missing persons cases and came across the incident involving Rory Gochanour from 1993. It's so unfortunate how quickly things can go wrong on the water, especially at high speeds. Lake Washington is notorious for its depth, and I read that his body is likely 160 feet underwater, which would make recovery incredibly difficult. What's interesting is how modern technology might offer new avenues for search and recovery in cases like his. Some areas use advanced sonar equipment that wasn't available back then. I wonder if there’s any chance future searches could bring closure to his family? Has anyone heard of similar cases where technology played a big role in solving cold water recovery cases?
