I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact of Keegan's story on his classmates and teammates. As a member of the cross-country team, he was probably like a big brother to many of those kids, both literally and figuratively. Imagine being a teen, showing up to practice, and suddenly your friend isn’t there anymore. It's unimaginable the weight the team must feel stepping onto that track now. Keegan seemed like someone who was there to motivate others by leading with kindness and determination. It must be so difficult for those kids to process this loss, right before starting a new school year. I hope the school and community have resources in place for these young people, who not only lost a classmate but a role model. My heart goes out to all of them as they try to navigate such a massive and senseless loss in their lives.
