I can't stop thinking about those who were there with LaEva that night, especially her family and close friends. Being out for a casual evening, only to have such a horrific situation unfold, must be incredibly traumatizing. It's chilling to think that a normal outing can turn into a scene of such violence in the blink of an eye. I'm struggling to understand what could have escalated a simple dispute to this extreme level of violence. What really stands out to me is how quickly things turned chaotic outside the bar. It's terrifying to think about the chaos and confusion in those moments at the intersection of 27th Street and Liberty Avenue. It's also concerning that the three individuals detained were released, and it makes me wonder what evidence or lack thereof made it necessary for the police to let them go. My heart goes out to LaEva's family and her two children—left with unanswered questions at a time when they need closure and justice the most. I truly hope the investigation gains momentum soon.
