Hey everyone,
I've been thinking a lot about the role of hospital staff in these cases, especially when it comes to trust and care. It just boggles my mind how someone like Donald Harvey could have been allowed to work so closely with vulnerable patients like William Collins for so long. It makes you question the systems that were in place back then (or weren't) for ensuring patient safety.
What really gets me is the sheer betrayal of it all—how an elderly man like Collins went into the hospital expecting care and ended up falling victim to someone who exploited his trust. It's just unfathomable. You'd think there would have been more oversight, right? Or some kind of mechanism to catch red flags sooner than it took to actually uncover these terrible acts.
I can’t imagine how terrifying it must have been for the families who learned only later about what really happened to their loved ones. It's just such a chilling reminder of how things can go wrong in places where people are supposed to feel safe.
Anyone else have thoughts on this or know how hospital safety measures have changed since then?
