I recently came across the case of Donald Barney, and it's truly unsettling to think about what happened to him and so many others under Donald Harvey's care. One aspect of this case that really stands out to me is the level of trust that hospital patients and their families place in medical staff. Hospitals are supposed to be places of healing and safety, but for Barney and the others, it was quite the opposite. Barney was already in a vulnerable state when Harvey decided to take advantage of that, using his position to administer poison. It's chilling to consider how easily Harvey was able to continue his pattern across different hospitals and states without immediate suspicion. There's a deceptive nature to these crimes that makes them all the more disturbing. My thoughts are with Barney's family, who must have been devastated not only by his loss but by the revelation of how it happened. Trust is hard to rebuild after something so violating. Does this case change how anyone else views hospital safety, or measures you'd take for yourself or loved ones in care?
