It's truly unsettling to think about how someone like Donald Harvey could operate undetected for so long in facilities designed for care and healing. One aspect of Virgil Weddle's death that really hits me is how Harvey managed to exploit the very vulnerability that brought Weddle to the hospital in the first place. Being 81 and already seriously ill, Weddle was in a position where any sudden changes in his condition wouldn't have necessarily raised red flags. It's haunting that the rat poison was slipped into something as simple as pudding—an everyday comfort food that should have been harmless. The idea that this horror unfolded within the walls of a place meant for recuperation is so disturbing. My heart goes out to Weddle's family and anyone else who placed their trust in the care of medical staff, only to be betrayed in the most profound way. It's important for us to remember these victims as real people caught up in a nightmare, not just statistics in a criminal case.
