It's chilling to think about how Donald Harvey brought a lethal dose of betrayal to his own neighborhood. Helen Metzger was just living her life, probably never imagining that her neighbor could harbor such sinister intentions. It’s unsettling to think that her death went unnoticed for years in the web of Harvey's crimes. Something that caught my eye was the alleged argument between Harvey and Metzger—did this dispute trigger his decision to poison her, or was it a convenient justification for him later on? Whatever the case, it seems so callous and calculated to lace something as innocuous as a pie with arsenic. Thinking of her family and friends, it's so painful to know they had to wait until Harvey's confessions to truly understand what happened. Her story is a harsh reminder that not all monsters wear obvious masks—some of them might just live next door.
