I recently found myself thinking about the impact Greg Jouben's murder must have had on the Little Falls community back in the early '90s. Imagine the shock and fear that must've permeated the town when a local businessman was brutally murdered in what they thought was a safe, tight-knit area. I've read accounts of how friendly and well-liked Greg was, which makes the betrayal from a stranger all the more chilling. It’s hard to grasp the level of planning Evans undertook, watching his every move and waiting for the perfect moment to strike. The delay between the crime and Evans's confession likely left a cloud of suspicion hanging over anyone who might have been seen near the shop that day. I can’t imagine how difficult those years must have been for the Jouben family and Greg’s friends, living in uncertainty and grief without knowing why this happened or who was responsible. Even with the confession, the lack of a trial might feel like an unfinished chapter to them. My heart goes out to everyone who knew him and everyone who still remembers the pain of that time. I hope they’ve found some peace, even if justice in the legal sense was never fully served.
