I've been following the case of Ruchell and George Jencks from Omaha, and it's just so deeply painful to imagine what their family is going through right now. What I've found especially troubling is the impact this has on their son. Finding his parents like that is unimaginable, and my heart goes out to him. I hope he's surrounded by support from friends and community who can help him navigate this incredibly difficult time. With the news of this being a murder-suicide, it's another stark reminder of how crucial it is to address the signs and risks of domestic violence, even when it may not be overtly visible. Families can often seem perfectly fine from the outside, so it's important to foster open conversations and create environments where people feel safe seeking help. My sincere hope is that this tragic event prompts more awareness and action around mental health and domestic violence issues.
