I’ve been following the case of Isaiah Shorter, and something that sticks out to me is the role social media played in facilitating this whole tragedy. They found crucial messages on Instagram, which apparently helped detectives make strides in the investigation. It’s just so upsetting to think about how a simple conversation intended for vape pens spiraled into such a tragic end. Social media can feel like this invisible thread connecting people, but it can also lead to situations like these where intentions get twisted and lives get upended. My heart goes out to Isaiah’s family; I can’t imagine the pain they’re enduring. It makes me wonder what we, as a community, could do to guide our youth in making safer choices online. What are your thoughts?
