I can't stop thinking about the role of the cousin who was on FaceTime during this horrific event. It must be incredibly traumatic to witness such a moment and feel completely powerless to intervene. The fact that Sami chose to call his cousin and make threats while on the call just adds another layer of complexity and heartbreak to this already tragic story. I genuinely hope the cousin is getting the support they need right now. Being a part of this situation, even indirectly, can leave lasting emotional scars. It raises so many questions about what could have been done, if anything, to de-escalate the situation or alert someone who could actually help. I can't imagine the burden they must be carrying, knowing they were the last person to communicate with Sami before everything went horribly wrong. This case is devastating on so many levels. My thoughts are with the Mdanat family and everyone affected as they navigate through this painful ordeal.
