As a parent, this tragedy hits so close to home for me. It's unfathomable to think that a night meant for celebration and creating memories ended in such a horrific way for Javon Townsend and his family. My heart goes out to them. I can’t stop thinking about Javon’s classmates and friends who witnessed the chaos and fear firsthand. It’s impossible to imagine how they must be feeling, especially knowing that the person responsible is still out there. I hope the school’s counseling services are really helping these kids process what happened. It’s crucial for them to have a safe space to talk about their feelings and start to heal. Also, neighbors around Liberty Avenue who witnessed the events have been describing just how terrifying it was—to see so many young people running for their lives is beyond scary. It’s heartbreaking that our kids can’t even go to a party without fearing for their safety. If anyone has any information, please come forward. Javon’s family, and all the affected teens, deserve some peace and closure.
