I can't stop thinking about how this tragedy could have been prevented. It's haunting to know that law enforcement was at the house earlier in the day. I understand they didn't have grounds to detain Courtney Smith at the time, but hearing about her claims of seeing "demons" sends chills down my spine. It makes me wonder about the system we have in place for mental health crises. How do we distinguish between someone who needs immediate help and someone who might later pose a danger to themselves or others? The fact that this was overlooked is deeply unsettling. My heart goes out to Maysie’s family and friends. I hope they find the strength they need during this unimaginably difficult time. Sending love and light to everyone who knew and adored her vibrant spirit.
