On the evening of Saturday, April 18, 2026, Michael Joseph Hayes, 27, was shot and killed in the parking lot of Hilltop Carryout Pizza and Subs in the 7700 block of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Police were called about a reported shooting at about 9:15 p.m.; officers and emergency medical personnel found Hayes with multiple gunshot wounds. He was treated on scene and taken to a trauma center, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the investigation, Hayes had been at the restaurant earlier and was involved in a disturbance. The owner, 32-year-old Ioannis Georgios Giorgakis of Baltimore, called 911 twice that evening about Hayes. After Hayes left and later returned, a physical altercation occurred in the parking lot, and Giorgakis allegedly produced a firearm and shot Hayes multiple times. Giorgakis remained at the scene, was taken into custody by Anne Arundel County Police, and was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime. At a bail review hearing on April 20, 2026, Giorgakis’s attorney said he acted in self-defense; the judge ordered him held without bond. The investigation remains ongoing.

Did anyone witness the disturbance inside the restaurant or the confrontation in the parking lot who can add details?
