I’ve been following this tragic case closely, and I find it particularly disturbing how social media may have influenced these events. It’s so sad to think that a simple fight spiraled out of control, partially because there was an audience ready to capture and perhaps even upload the altercation online. With Karissa Gamez reportedly filming the event, it raises the question of whether the presence of cameras and the potential for online notoriety contributed to the violence escalating. For Erubey Romero Medina and Daniel Jimenez Millian's families, this senseless loss must be unimaginably painful. It's a reminder of how quickly things can escalate and how the decisions made in the heat of the moment can have life-altering consequences. My heart goes out to everyone affected. I hope this tragedy serves as a sobering warning and sparks conversations about positive ways to diffuse conflicts among our youth.
