Hey everyone, I'm deeply troubled by the tragic passing of Asile Olden. It’s hard to wrap my head around how something like this could happen. I’ve been thinking a lot about the atmosphere surrounding our youth these days. What really concerns me is the environment and influences these kids are exposed to that might lead them to believe having or even playing around with a gun is okay. The aspect that really gets to me is the role of adults and the community. Where are the protective measures that should prevent situations like this? It's clear that there needs to be more awareness and education around firearm safety, especially with teenagers. Also, what about the secure storage laws in Wisconsin—is there a way to make them more effective to prevent a tragedy like this from happening again? My heart is heavy not only for Asile’s family but also for the young boy who is his brother. Regardless of how this unfolds, they both have to live with the consequences of that day, and I can't imagine how difficult that must be for everyone involved. I hope we can use this heartbreaking incident as a catalyst for change—maybe more outreach in schools or community programs could make a difference. Would love to hear any thoughts or ideas on how we might move forward positively from such a sad event.
