I've been following the case of Jamyuz Bennett, and I can't stop thinking about the impact this tragedy has had on his family, especially on his mother, Felicia Cowan. Her emotional words in the courtroom about Jamyuz missing out on his children’s lives really struck a chord with me. It’s truly awful to think about all the moments and milestones he’ll never get to experience with his kids. I hope the legal system delivers the justice that Bennett’s family deserves. It must have been incredibly difficult for them during the bond hearing, and seeing Leake in court must be deeply painful. Although there's nothing that can bring Jamyuz back, I’m glad to see the community rallying around them, and I sincerely hope they find some peace in the midst of all this. It's a stark reminder of how senseless violence can devastate lives far beyond just the immediate moment.
