I’ve been following the tragic events in Friars Point and I just can't get over the senseless nature of it all. My heart goes out to the family of Marterion Magsby and all those affected by this violence. It's an awful thing for any community to experience, especially one as close-knit as Friars Point seems to be. Something that’s been on my mind is the impact these events must have on the schools and how the switch to virtual learning affects the students. Can you imagine being a young student right now and not only coping with the fear of what happened but also having your entire learning environment shift because of it? It makes me wonder how the schools are supporting their students through this trauma and what resources are available for those needing help or counseling. I also hope the law enforcement agencies working on this case are able to bring some answers and justice to the community soon. Everyone deserves to feel safe in their own neighborhood, and it’s so important to restore a sense of security for all families involved. If anyone from the area has updates or is aware of efforts to support the families or victims, I’d love to hear more about how people can get involved or help from afar.
