I keep thinking about how much promise Darkell had and the future that will never be. It's truly difficult when a community loses someone so young, especially in such a tragic way. I didn't know Darkell personally, but what I've read about his involvement at church and with community service really struck me. He seemed to be such a caring soul, already making an impact in his community at just 15. It baffles me that such a senseless act of violence can take away a life that was just starting to flourish. The fact that he was out doing something so ordinary—riding his scooter—when his life was cut short is just gut-wrenching. It makes you wonder about the unpredictability of life and how quickly things can change. I truly hope the police make some progress soon, not only to bring justice for Darkell but also to provide his family and friends some semblance of peace. They deserve answers and we, as a community, should support them through this unimaginable time.
