Joseph Alexander Manfredi, 27, was shot and killed on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at a construction site in the SilverLeaf community in St. Johns County, Florida. The shooting happened shortly before 4:45 p.m. after a dispute with a coworker; two other construction workers were also wounded, one with a thigh wound and another with a gunshot to the chest. Manfredi was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say the altercation began after comments allegedly made about Manfredi’s wife. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Manfredi kick the coworker, 20-year-old Yovany Lopez Cobo, and then walk away. Authorities say Lopez Cobo then pulled a handgun and fired multiple shots. Lopez Cobo fled but was located about 30 minutes later after license plate reader hits; police recovered a Glock 19 9mm and arrested him. He has been charged with second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder and was scheduled to appear in court on March 20, 2026.
Joseph Manfredi, born October 23, 1998, was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, husband and father of two young children. His family and the local community have organized support through online fundraisers. Does anyone have information about the incident or saw the SilverLeaf site on March 4?
