Did anyone else notice how quickly things escalated at the West Ridge Shopping Center? It's really alarming to think about how an ongoing dispute can end in such tragic circumstances. With so many bystanders around, it’s a miracle more people weren't hurt, though of course my heart goes out to Edrisha Prater and the other victim—such an awful loss for their families and friends. I've been following police updates closely, and it's interesting (and frustrating) that they haven't shared the specifics about what triggered the deadly escalation. I've read that conflicts can sometimes build quietly before exploding like this, but you'd think there would've been some warning signs or an opportunity for intervention before it reached this point. Does anyone here have experience with conflict resolution in community contexts? Is there a way disputes like these can be handled without escalating to violence? I feel like communities need better tools and resources to address conflicts before they become catastrophic.
