I came across an old article about a community meeting that happened in the Lower Garden District around the time of Zachary Hunt’s murder. The neighborhood was quite vocal about the need for more streetlights and enhanced security measures. It really makes you wonder if something as simple as better lighting could have deterred the crime or helped in catching the perpetrator sooner. It’s tragic that it sometimes takes such a violent event to push for change. My heart goes out to Zachary’s family, and I hope the community can come together to prevent future tragedies. If anyone has updates on the investigation or community safety improvements since then, please share.
