I've been thinking a lot about the safety of places we often go to unwind, like this club on Bell Road. It's so deeply unsettling knowing that Lennie Joel Sanchez's life was stolen in a setting that's supposed to be about relaxation and fun. These after-hours spots should be a place where we feel safe, not where violence erupts. It really raises a critical conversation about the responsibility venues have in ensuring safety for patrons. These places know they have a job more than just pouring drinks; they've got to protect the people inside and outside. If there have been reports of past violent incidents at this nightclub, it's worrying. It makes me wonder what's being done to prevent history from repeating itself. But the venue's safety, or lack thereof, is just a part of the story. I can’t stop thinking about Lennie's family. Losing someone in such a senseless way has got to be unimaginably difficult. They deserve answers, but more importantly, they deserve change so others aren’t faced with the same horror. We have to advocate for safer establishments so more tragedies like this don't happen.
