I can't wrap my head around the loss of Mark Myles. It's just so unfair to lose someone who was always on the frontline of bringing peace and hope to our community. I've been involved with some of the programs he ran at the Selma Center for Nonviolence, and his dedication was unmatched. It's a huge blow for us all.
I remember seeing him speak at a local church event last year, and his words were so inspiring. He had this incredible ability to make you feel like you mattered and that you could make a difference, no matter your background or struggles. It just makes me wonder how someone with such a big heart could become the victim of such senseless violence.
My thoughts go out to his family and the many young people who looked up to him as a mentor. This is a huge loss not only for them but for everyone in Selma who worked with him or was touched by his efforts. I truly hope justice is served, and his work isn’t forgotten. Let’s keep supporting each other and continue the positive changes he worked so hard for.
It's so hard to fathom the loss of someone as impactful as Mark Myles, especially in a community as tight-knit as Selma. I keep thinking about the young people he mentored and the positive changes he instigated in their lives. You don’t just fill the shoes of someone like Mark. He had this incredible knack for helping kids find a sense of purpose and steering them away from paths of violence. One can only imagine the void his absence leaves in these young people's hearts and how they’re processing this tragedy. I hope the community can rally around them, continuing the work Mark was so passionate about. His legacy deserves to live on through those he helped and inspired. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all those touched by his kindness. Has anyone heard if there are plans to continue any of his programs? I feel like that's what he would've wanted.
