I've been following Landin Lee Bodine's case closely and my heart goes out to everyone who loved him. I came across some discussions about the ballistics involved in the shooting, and it's really made me wonder about how such a tragic accident could occur. Gregg's account of slipping and the gun going off accidentally raises so many questions. Illinois doesn't exactly have the most lenient gun laws, yet somehow a young man was put in a situation where a firearm was mishandled, intentional or not. From what I understand, Gregg wasn't even supposed to have that firearm without a FOID card, which adds another layer of concern on top of everything. It makes me think about the accessibility of guns for young people and the education (or lack thereof) about gun safety. These are lives we're talking about—young lives that are supposed to be filled with late-night hangouts and the kind of simplicity Landin thrived on, not things like FOID cards and court dates. I guess my point here is just to highlight how important it is to have these conversations about gun responsibility. Maybe focusing on awareness and more stringent checks could prevent a similar tragedy in the future. Landin's story shouldn’t just fade into another statistic; it should serve as a catalyst for change and awareness. Keeping his family in my thoughts during this unimaginably difficult time. Long Live Landin.
