I’ve been trying to make sense of how something like this could happen in our community. My thoughts are especially with Tiara Jenkins’ family right now. I can’t imagine what it must be like to lose someone so unexpectedly and violently. I grew up not far from North Jackson Street, and it’s hard to believe such a tragedy could occur in such a quiet area. One aspect that’s been on my mind is the response from our local emergency services. It seems like they arrived quickly, but with situations like this, every second counts. I’m relieved they were able to help the third individual, but the loss of precious lives is still so overwhelming. The role of first responders is tough, and I'm thankful to BPD and the medical staff for their efforts, even in such grim circumstances. Does anyone know more about how the community is coming together to support the affected families? It would be nice to see a fund or some kind of local effort to help the Jenkins family and others heal from this.
