I've been following Cindi Arleen Estrada's case for a while now, and what sticks with me is the handling of her identity all those years. It's incredibly sad to think of her being reduced to just “I-90 Jane Doe” for so long. Imagine having no name, just a case number, all while loved ones have no idea where you've ended up. I can't even begin to fathom the emotional rollercoaster her family must have gone through, only to learn after all those years that she was discovered so far away. It's a painful reminder of how many unidentified victims are still out there, waiting to be recognized and claimed by their stories, too. I hope that Cindi’s case shines a light on these forgotten souls and pushes us toward better systems and methods to restore their identities.
