I can’t stop thinking about Robert’s story, especially knowing how much he loved spending time with his family. It’s so distressing to see another young life taken so violently and so suddenly, and it really makes you wonder about the world we live in when an afternoon can turn so tragic. I recently read that Robert was described by those who knew him as “the kid that you hope for.” His humble relationship with his family and community deeply resonates with me, and I couldn’t help but think about how this was not just a statistic, but a future erased. When will the cycle of violence stop disrupting the lives of young people in our community? It also hits me very hard to know that his family was already mourning Deliah’s death earlier this year. I can’t begin to imagine the compounded grief his mother and relatives must be feeling right now. The repeated loss for one family is just unimaginable, and I genuinely hope they find comfort in each other and the community during this very difficult time. Let’s keep Robert’s family in our thoughts and do what we can to support them.
