I’ve been thinking a lot about the circumstances surrounding Rebecca Rivera’s murder, and one thing that keeps nagging at me is the handling and theft of the firearm. It's horrifying to think about how easily a 16-year-old was able to get access to a gun in the first place. I can’t help but wonder what kind of safety measures were in place, or rather, not in place, that allowed this to happen. I feel for Rebecca’s family and community. It’s terrifying to think that such a senseless act could occur simply because of a gun that shouldn’t have been stolen in the first place. Being from Idaho myself, I know how second nature it is for people here to have firearms, but this serves as such a tragic reminder of why gun security needs to be taken so seriously by everyone. I hope this topic gains more awareness not just in Blackfoot but everywhere, to prevent tragedies like this from happening to more innocent families. My heart goes out to Rebecca’s daughter and everyone else affected by this tragedy. What a terrible loss for our community.

I’ve been reading through this tragic case and can't stop thinking about how incredible it is that communities, even small ones like Blackfoot, can come together in the face of such tragedies. Rebecca Rivera sounded like such a wonderful person, full of love for her daughter and her community. I'm curious about the measures local schools and workplaces might be taking in response to this incident to ensure safety. Given that Bobby G. Jackson was employed by a subcontractor at State Hospital South, which is a significant piece in this puzzle, do you think there could be improvements in how they screen or monitor young employees? It's so unsettling that a minor employed in any capacity could access a firearm so easily. It’s crucial for all of us to consider what more could be done to prevent similar situations in the future. Sending strength to Rebecca’s family and the whole Blackfoot community.
