Hey everyone, I've been following the case of Jose Rocha-Hernandez, and something that's been really striking to me is the impact of the community gatherings and memorials. I wasn't in Oakland at the time, but I read about the memorial held by St. Columba Catholic Church where they displayed those white wooden crosses. Just thinking about how each one represented a life lost, including Jose's, just brings a sense of the profound loss the community must have felt. It’s heartbreaking to imagine the loved ones attending and seeing those crosses, but also hopefully it brought a sense of solidarity and a reminder that no one is really alone even amidst such tragedy. The resilience of these communities facing ongoing violence is truly commendable. I can only hope that highlighting these stories and memorials continues to inspire change and justice. Has anyone else here attended similar memorials or have thoughts on how communities can further support each other through such difficult times?
