I'm writing this with a heavy heart after learning about Daniel Sublasky's case. It's so distressing to think how a mere dispute could escalate into something as devastating as a loss of a young life. I can't imagine what his family must be going through right now. I've been thinking a lot about the role of community spaces in such circumstances. Daniel was found near an apartment community—places where people should feel safe, where neighbors often look out for each other. It’s unsettling that violence found its way there. I hope that out of this tragedy, there can be a push for more community support or initiatives that encourage neighbors to come together and look after one another. Creating environments where disputes can be mediated peacefully might be a small step forward. Sending all my thoughts and prayers to his loved ones, and hoping for justice and healing.
