It's been a few weeks since the tragic events in Leland, and my heart goes out to Calvin Plant's family and friends. In the chaos and aftermath, we must remember that these aren't just names on a tragic list but real people who had hopes and dreams. Calvin, known as "Lil Calvin," was only 19 with so much life ahead of him. What stands out to me is how tightly knit these Delta communities are. The fact that his services are being planned in nearby Greenville reflects how quickly the news spread and how deeply it affected everyone. It's like a ripple in a pond, each wave touching another person or family. I can't imagine how surreal it must be for those who knew him—to see a young life, which should have been full of promise, remembered instead in church bulletins and memorials. As the investigation unfolds and more arrests are made, let's not lose sight of who Calvin was. Any shared memories or anecdotes about him are welcome here; it's a small way we can keep his spirit alive while supporting his loved ones through this unimaginable time.
