I've been following the tragic events at Willie’s Bar and Grill, and I can't help but think about the impact on the families, especially Kashawn Glaze’s. He was just 22, with so much life ahead of him. What strikes me is how this shooting happened during what was supposed to be a joyful alumni gathering—something meant to bring people together in celebration, not fear. I read that the community is known for its tight-knit bonds and rich Gullah culture. It makes this incident feel even more disruptive to the area’s way of life. The memorial that the community set up seems to be a testament to their resilience and remembrance of those who were lost. It must be incredibly difficult for his family to navigate this sudden loss amidst the community’s ongoing struggle for answers and justice. I really hope more witnesses come forward to help investigators piece together what happened that night. This community deserves some peace and a chance to heal. Thinking of everyone affected and hoping for justice for Kashawn and all those who were senselessly taken away.

I've been thinking a lot about the role the community is playing in the aftermath of the tragic incident at Willie’s Bar and Grill. It’s so distressing to hear about Kashawn Glaze and the others who lost their lives that night. I keep wondering why more witnesses aren’t coming forward. I get that fear can be a powerful silencer, especially if the suspects are from nearby, but it makes me so sad to think about how much harder it must be for the families when things seem stalled like this. The vigil they held for the victims—I heard it was a really moving moment for everyone who attended. It’s comforting in a way to see people come together in their grief and to support one another, but I keep wishing they didn’t have to. Kashawn's family, along with the families of Chiraad, A’shan’tek, and Amos, deserve some sort of peace and justice. I hope that, despite the challenges, someone will find the courage to provide the details needed to help the authorities make arrests. Every lost life is a part of the community that we don't get back. Let's continue lifting each other up and supporting the families as they navigate these incredibly difficult times.
