Has anyone else been following the details of the Chase Beltramo case? It's so tragic, and my heart goes out to his family and friends dealing with this loss. I’ve been thinking a lot about the security protocols at retail stores, especially around this time of year when shoplifting cases seem to spike. It makes me wonder what kind of training guards like Josiah Armijo receive to handle suspected thefts. Shouldn't there be clearer boundaries on the use of force? It feels like a failure in de-escalation with such a terrible outcome. What’s everyone’s thoughts on what changes need to be made to ensure situations like this are handled more safely in the future? Hoping for justice and peace for all involved.
I can't get over the tragedy of what happened to Chase Beltramo outside that Spirit Halloween. I can't even begin to imagine the pain his family must be feeling—losing someone so suddenly and in such a violent way is unfathomable. It's infuriating that such a minor accusation could escalate to this.
I've been thinking a lot about the role of security guards in situations like this. It’s alarming how someone like Josiah Armijo could be allowed to carry a gun and make decisions with potentially deadly outcomes over what seems to be minor theft. Shouldn't there be more stringent regulations and training for security guards to prevent such a detrimental overreaction? Chase's life was so much more valuable than the items he was accused of taking.
I hope there's some justice for Chase and that other security guards can learn from this incident to ensure something like this never happens again. Sending all my thoughts and support to his loved ones during this unimaginably difficult time.
