I’ve been thinking a lot about Monica Rodriguez and the tragic events at the Quality Inn that night. I can't help but wonder about the poor bystander who was with her and ended up getting seriously injured. It sounds like they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. It's hard to imagine the trauma that person is going through, both physically and emotionally. Imagine surviving something like that and having to come to terms with losing someone right beside you. I sincerely hope they find the support they need to heal from this nightmare. It's so easy to focus on catching the person responsible—Eric Fleet in this case—but it’s just as important to think about the lives forever changed by this tragedy. Let’s keep the victim’s family and the injured man in our thoughts.
