Timothy Howard Hambleton, 62, of Jefferson, Ohio, was found fatally wounded outside a residence along State Route 46 in Lenox Township on the morning of June 2, 2025. Deputies who answered a 6:11 a.m. 911 call discovered Hambleton with a single gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified in a funeral notice that week. Funeral records describe that he passed away unexpectedly.

Within hours of the shooting investigators identified 42-year-old Timothy J. Adams as a suspect and said he fled in a red 2006 Ford Explorer and was considered armed and dangerous. A coordinated search by Ashtabula and Geauga County authorities ended about 3:46 p.m. that day when deputies located Adams roughly 20 feet up a tree behind a friend’s home in Thompson Township and took him into custody without incident.

A grand jury returned an indictment on June 12, 2025, charging Adams with murder plus related counts including voluntary manslaughter, involuntary manslaughter, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence. He pleaded not guilty at a subsequent court appearance; bond was set at $1,000,000, the court ordered no contact with the victim’s family or witnesses, and records show 19 days of jail credit while the case proceeded.

Did anyone in Lenox Township see activity along State Route 46 that morning or have information about the red 2006 Ford Explorer?
