I find it so deeply unsettling that a community event could take such a tragic turn. I didn’t know DeAndre personally, but from what I’ve read, he was someone who brought a lot of positivity into this world—known for his smile and his ability to lift the spirits of those around him. It’s devastating that we’re here discussing yet another instance of gun violence taking away someone who was cherished in his community. I have been thinking about those 80 shell casings that were found. It's just disturbing to imagine such a heavy military-like atmosphere in a neighborhood setting, where people gathered just to enjoy a night out. The senseless shooting of a dog in someone’s yard, too—how lost in chaos and disregard can a person be to do that? It just adds layers to the tragedy and frightens me because it represents a deeper issue of fear and disregard for life. I sincerely hope the community finds healing and can come together to prevent future incidents. To anyone who knows DeAndre’s family, please extend this stranger’s condolences. They deserve justice and peace during such a painful period. Let’s all do our part in providing any information we can to bring accountability to those responsible.
