Hey everyone, I've been thinking a lot about the statements made by Interim Chief Eddie Graham following the tragic event on Lane Street. It struck me how he mentioned "making it uncomfortable" for those who choose violence. It’s refreshing but also so crucial to see local leadership expressing a strong stance against violence, especially in a situation as devastating as this one. The community must rally behind this sentiment and support law enforcement while they work to make our neighborhoods safer. I can’t even imagine the pain that Xavier's family is enduring right now, losing someone so young and full of potential. His life was stolen, and it's a reminder of how important it is for us all to come together to prevent more tragedies. I hope the community discussions about patrols and reopening a neighborhood substation lead to tangible change. Xavier’s memory deserves no less than our commitment to creating spaces where young people can feel safe and thrive.
